Americans with Disabilities Act
In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended, the City of Krum will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities based on a disability in its services, programs, or activities.
Aids or Services for Effective Communication
The City of Krum will generally, upon request, provide appropriate aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified individuals so they can participate equally in the City of Krums programs, services or activities, including qualified interpreters, modified documents and other ways of making information and communications accessible to individuals who have speech, hearing or vision impairments.
Modifications to Policies & Procedures
The City of Krum may, upon request, make reasonable modifications to its policies and procedures to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal opportunity to enjoy all of the City’s programs, services and activities, for example, qualified individuals with service animals will be welcome in City of Krums Offices under most circumstances, even where pets are generally prohibited.
Requesting an Accommodation
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication or a modification of our policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity for the City of Krum should contact the City of Krum’s ADA Coordinator as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.
The ADA does not require the City of Krum to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs, services, or activities. Or that would cause an undue financial or administrative burden.
The city of Krum will not place a surcharge on an individual with a disability or any group of individuals with disabilities to provide reasonable auxiliary aids, services or modification of a policy, such as retrieving items from locations that are open to the public but are not accessible to persons who use wheelchairs.
Complaints and Grievance Procedure
Complaints that a program, service or activity of the City of Krum is not equally accessible to persons with disabilities should contact the ADA coordinator using the City of Krum ADA Grievance Procedure.
The City established a grievance procedure in compliance with the ADA and may be used by anyone who wishes to file a complaint alleging disability discrimination in provision of City services, activities, programs, or benefits.
