A certificate of occupancy certifies a building's compliance with applicable building codes and other laws, and is required to occupy or use any single-family, two-family, multifamily, or nonresidential building.
A certificate of occupancy is required for:
Initial occupancy of a new building;
Building remodel/alteration or expansion/addition;
Change in tenant business/entity name;
Change in occupancy (use) of a building; or
Change in ownership of a building.

Fee: $75; if certificate of occupancy is part of a new construction, addition/expansion, or remodel/alteration permit, a certificate of occupancy application is required but there is no application fee.
